Most patients will experience a dental filling at some point in their lives. Designed to address tooth decay, or cavities, a dental filling can also be used for repairing tooth damage. A relatively quick procedure with minimal discomfort, Frisco family dentist Dr. Dunia Korous at Millennium Smiles places dental fillings using a local anesthetic during one visit.
Dental Fillings: What To Expect
Your procedure may vary based on the size, location and type of tooth filling needed to restore your dental health. Some small fillings can be complete with minimal preparation to the tooth and do not require the use of an anesthetic.
First, Dr. Korous will prepare the tooth by removing any tooth decay or existing fillings and creating a stable foundation for the new filling. The composite material will be skillfully molded onto the tooth surface to create a comfortable result and cured with a special light.
Composite fillings can typically be complete in one visit.
Inlays & Onlays
Millennium Smiles also places porcelain inlays and onlays for larger cavities or tooth damage. Providing a lasting, natural looking result, a dental inlay or onlay is often recommended for treating teeth at the back of your smile with larger biting surfaces.
In most cases, Dr. Korous can design, fabricate and place your dental inlay or onlay during a single visit using CEREC technology.
